A very good article, Drew. You are quite right: The planning, resources and coordination required to stage this disgusting display of barbarity is just the latest proof of the absolutely evil nature of the enemy Israel is facing.

As a side note, I think we should stop referring to Hamas as being up against Western civilization, and use the term "modern civilization" instead.

Not just for the sake of historical accuracy and inclusivity, but because people in the West shilling for them like Owen Jones, Greta Thunberg, and Abbie Chatfield can falsely pretend to own these values and ditch them for something they claim to be morally superior. But they don't. The Leftoids are against anything modern society stands for - be it intellectual curiosity, scientific reasoning, marveling at the intricate, interleaved layers of knowledge gain and experimentation leading to scientific discoveries and technological developments, teaming up to solve humanity's challenges (including environmental), and forming authentic relations and connecting to others via our shared humanity without fear of being judged by stereotypes.

These Leftoids and their degenerate Ummah reactionist "anti imperialism" flag bearers are for chaos, disconnection, destruction and tearing up every tiny ounce of a functioning civilization around them. They should go down and outcasted from any modern society via Popper's paradox of tolerance.

I also hold them as baby killers themselves. Hamas wanted to get rid of the children, and instead of just handing them over, they realized they could kill them and try to fake their cause of death because the Leftoid propagandists will cover for them and blame the IDF. It was a few weeks after the Al Ahli hospital fake bombing fake 500 dead reporting, so Hamas realized there are enough people in the West to take them at their word. Hell is not enough.

Germany was crushed, then de-Nazified.

Japan was crushed, then its warrior culture was expunged.

Extinguish the “Palestinian” culture, then attempt to raise a generation of civilized humans.

A year ago, I mightn’t have agreed. But we’ve seen too much. They are too broken.

It ends only when the Palestinian cause itself ends. When there is an expressed international consensus that there will be no Palestine. Not ever.

We are close to that now, I believe. That is the only thing Hamas can say it has achieved with October 7 and its actions since. Hamas has persuaded Israel, the vast majority of Americans, and the few sensible people remaining in Europe, that Palestinian society is insane and its national movement is evil.

This is a shame for the minority of Palestinians who are not Hamas or Hamas supporters. But here’s the thing. If there was ever going to be a Palestine, it was incumbent upon the Palestinians themselves to organize and expel the most violent and radical elements from their movement, so they could obtain international legitimacy. That is what the Zionists did when they expelled the Stern Gang and Irgun lunatics from the movement in the run up to statehood. And the same is required of any national movement if it wants to be taken seriously and afforded the legitimacy required for international recognition. It would not be easy. There would be internal factional violence. But it’s necessary because without purging the most radical, violent elements from the movement, the most radical, violent faction will seize control and prevent the national movement from achieving its goals.

The Palestinians could not — would not — purge the violent lunatics from their movement. They’ve had 100 years, and they clearly have no interest in even trying. As a result, the violent lunatics have firm control over the Palestinian national cause, and have succeeded in making the Palestinian national cause identical with terror, violence, and the murder of Jewish babies.

That marks the inevitable death of the Palestinian national movement. The entire world is recoiling from the Palestinians in horror. Whatever diplomatic rhetoric they may have adopted before, whatever platitudes about two states for two people they may previously have mouthed out of politeness, no one wants to see a Palestinian state emerge in the Middle East.

Everyone now fully understands that a Palestinian state would sprout fully formed as a cannibalistic monster, an immediate existential threat to Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria, “a rough beast, its hour come round at last, slouching towards Bethlehem to be born.”

Sadly, the current Australian government is pro Hamas/Palestine. Needless to say they are deluded but, be that as it may, they are showering meaningless platitudes on the Jews who are unsurprisingly under attack here, while planning to bring 3000 more Palestinian "refugees" here. The vetting process is a joke. They have created an open door for importing terrorists

I guess that makes them insane as well as deluded!

And yet Albanese wants to bring 3000 unvetted Palestinians to Australia. It’s mind boggling ignorance.

Anyone who supports Hamas and the Palestinians' cause is not right in the head. How can any intelligent person support what they have done and what they will continue to do?

Not ignorance. Political strategy. The ALPs political structure has swing so hard left that it’s collapsing in the political middle. Bringing in unvetted Palestinians is an attempt to bolster their political support In key electorates. They’ll trash community cohesion for the sake of their own political survival

The Quran tells the faithful that the best thing they can do with their lives is to wage Jihad against nonbelievers. Islam is a form of totalitarianism. The destiny of all humanity is to recognize Mohammed as God’s prophet, and to surrender to Allah. If they do not, they must accept being a subordinate caste to Muslims, and live as weak, second-class citizens. There is a particular Muslim duty to restore any lands that were previously conquered by Muslims. Therefore, the existence of Israel is a compound wound, a dagger in their side, because it negates all that they believe. Not only did weak Jews defeat five Muslim armies, but they persist in their own Jewish sense of honor and national unity. This is simply unacceptable to fundamentalist Islam. Does fundamentalism make people stupid? Does it make them unable to recognize other realities? Does it make it possible for people to commit great evil and harm in the name of faith?

The issue of foolish people in Western cultures who have adopted a fairy tale about the innocent Palestinians who had their land stolen from them— well, that is another bedtime story.

All the things you wrote that Hamas was not forced to do has an obvious corollary: no Arab country, starting with Qatar and Egypt, told them not to do it. No international organization - from the beginning - put down any red line to retrain Hamas’ barbarity.

The ICRC’s conduct all along has been particularly egregious. It never visited the hostages and, absent a congressional inquiry or a whistleblower’s leak, we will never know the extent to which they tried, if at all.

At no point was the ICRC forced to participate in these grotesque exhibitions that violate humanitarian law. Had it refused, Hamas would have relented - they fear the IDF and the resumption of the war.

There are reports that Al Jazeera editors was complicit in the staging of these events. And, of course, no one forced them to broadcast the turnover.

All of which proves why Israel exists and will continue to exist. Once as many hostages as possible have been extracted, I hope Israel will declare the ceasefire ended based on Hamas’ public commitment to engage in future October 7s. There should never be a reward for hostage taking.

Hamas and its terror affiliates should be given a short deadline to surrender and disarm, during which Gazan civilians will be told to head South. At the deadline’s expiration, the final battle against Hamas will begin.

Great article Drew, thank you! Hamas will never change - its militant and political capabilities need to be completely and utterly destroyed. They are blinded by their wish to eliminate Israel (and all the Jews) from the map. I don't expect anything different from them. My question is this, when will the 'woke/progressive left' useful idiots in Australia (who actually support Hamas) understand this?

I think the likes of @AlboSleazy & Penny Pong will never change their position. They want the chaos and unrest to build. That is why they support anything that drives a wedge between different "tribes". LGBTQ+ against straight, feminists against trans, Palestinians against Jews, blacks against whites, immigrants against Australians, etc. They want the hate to moment to the point of civil war so they can finally bring in the communist/socialist totalitarian regime they have been wanting for their entire career.

Zoe Daniel, Teals MP still stands by her decision to reinstate funding to unrwa Hamas because there is no alternative. There is. Call for an alternative. Teals and Penny Wong could gain support at the Useless UN if they wanted to. Their current stance makes them complicit.
